RissaLaRue Co. was born out of the desire to fill a gap in the BIPOC representation in the home décor market.
RissaLaRue Co.’s mission is to inspire you to courageously seek your balance, starting with creating a space you can thrive in.
In 2019, I worked as a textile designer, specializing in designing mattress ticking for national brands. I traveled to different home decor markets and noticed there was an overwhelming absence of Black-owned home decor brands, despite the abundance of African-inspired or African-sourced artifacts. The market was clearly missing a connection and representation. That's when a strong urge to create something entirely my own, with my own hands, began to grow within me.
